What is the vision of the Token Engineering Commons?

We envision a world where sustainable and ethical standards are an inseparable part of crypto-economic systems engineering and the tools, research and education necessary to achieve this goal have far-reaching impact and continuous funding.

What is the mission of the Token Engineering Commons? (How are we going to get there?)

To mobilize the community build of the ethical, technical and cultural foundation for web3 engineered systems.

What are the core values of the Token Engineering Commons?

Be kind. Promote open source thinking. Embrace diversity and inclusion. Encourage mutual accountability. Operate with transparency.

I like the Vision statement focus on "sustainable and ethical" I'd love to combine the mission from other submissions. Values are very clear and easy to read. Overall I like this one being short and to the point.

yeah, i would love some fusion between this one and 16

The vision doesn't roll off the tongue very easily. It's not crisp enough. Maybe something more like this:

We envision a world where sustainable and ethical standards are an inseparable part of crypto-economic systems and the tools, research and education to achieve this have continuous funding and far-reaching impact.

I struggle with this question about the mission - are ethical and cultural redundant? But I like that it is direct and to the point.

The confusion with the vision is that it's saying, "we envision a world WHERE" these two things:

1) sustainable and ethical standards are an inseparable part of crypto-economic systems engineering, 2) the tools, research and education necessary to achieve this goal have far-reaching impact and continuous funding.

So your suggested edit, @tamarandom, doesn't change the problem of structure.

Ethical and cultural are not redundant, but it is a category mistake to include them in a series together, since ethical is an element (or even product) of the cultural.

I like the components of the vision, but I think it needs restructuring.

This one gets most of my votes.. I agree that the Vision can be restructured a bit.. And I think the Web3 engineering element of the Mission would benefit from a bit of the economic language from the Vision moving down into it..
