WebView 1 / Legacy Edge Deprecation MC220490 #311

Hello, as of today Legacy Edge is no longer supported. We are using WebView (the first one) and just started transitioning to WebView2 however it appears that if Windows update MC220490 is installed, then it will remove Legacy Edge and cause WebView to stop working.

Does anyone know if the April 2021 Windows 10 cumulative monthly security installation update will cause WebView1 to stop working?

Will this affect other apps that use EdgeHTML? EdgeHTML—the rendering engine for Microsoft Edge Legacy—will continue to be supported. To develop apps for the new Microsoft Edge, use WebView2, the Chromium-based version of Microsoft’s WebView.

It sounds like this should still be supported as the transition to WebView2 continues. We're downloading and installing the Windows Insider preview builder for the April 2021 Windows Update (21h1) and can post the results if anyone else needs this.

Just an update if anyone else needs this. I used a spare Windows 10 machine and registered for an insider build of the 21H1 update. After installing - WebView #1 seems to be working properly still. So far I don't see any issues with it thankfully.
