"No GPS location provider" message stuck on screen #478

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Mytracks without gps enabled
2. Message pops up, quickly back out of mytracks to desktop
3. Message now stuck until mytracks is force closed
(reproduction seems to be hit or miss, but is most frequent after a fresh power
cycle of the phone, and less frequent if the app has been force closed once.)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Message should go away when you back out of the app, message should go away
after enabling gps. Instead, if following above steps, message just sticks at
bottom of the screen until app is force closed.

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?
Using v1.1.5, Android version 2.2, phone Motorola Droid 2 Global

If possible please provide a log. Either upload here or send to mytracks-

Hi MyTracks team,

I have the same issue with a HTC Desire+Ardroid 2.2 and application release
1.1.5.
To delete the message I have to turn off my device
Is there a workaround ?

I have the exact same issue with a Nexus S running 2.3.4.

Force closing MyTracks made the overlay go away.

It looks like the updated mytracks has somehow got a big bug. It needs to be
resolved ASAP, I also have this problem after I decided to get the update
today. I phoned motorola who said they will replace my handset!

Got a stack trace - if someon can confirm that this is the same as they see,
it'll be helpful:

All done.
Now that I know what this is, though, I'm surprised that it hit so many people.

I just started having this problem yesterday (June 5). Last used My Tracks
June 3 prior to updating to latest version of My Tracks, and prior to updating
to Android 2.3.3 (HTC EVO). Updated both My Tracks and EVO on June 3.

The message comes up and then goes off every time I've started My Tracks so
far. GPS is enabled.

So what is the solution? I have the current version of My Tracks on my Droid X
but get this "no gps location provider ..." warning every time I launch My
Tracks.

I get the "no GPS location provider was found on this device" error all the
time on my EVO running Gingerbread, but the app seems to work fine in spite of
the error. I wouldn't mind not having to see the error pop up all the time
though.
