Interested in this

I've been reading the source code all week and I think I know what I have to do to add this. I'm thinking of adding it as another armor type, as you wear it ontop of your helmet.

Is it ok if I try an implementation this weekend?

I'm thinking of using '8' as the symbol for hats as its one of the few symbols in NetHack that aren't used

eatnumber1 commented 12 years ago

You don't need permission to make changes. Just put them on a separate branch.

ekosz commented 12 years ago

Well I didn't want to step on anyones toes if their already working on this. Also, adding a new item type is kinda a bitch. Should I just add hats as a helm?

Pull request made at #82

worr commented 12 years ago

If this is going to be done, it needs to be done right. It needs to be just as retarded as TF2 hats, which are persistent between games, have their own item slot and change the user's avatar. This feature is mostly an elaborate joke.

ekosz commented 12 years ago

OK, than you can forget my commit.

The idea of randomly finding a rare hat in NetHack was pretty cool to me.

The idea of everything you just said, dumb.

Although I don't actually care if this gets done, I don't like the idea.

eatnumber1 commented 12 years ago

This was closed because worr who was the only nethack dev interested in this idea, lost interest. If someone else wants to do this, it's still fine by me.

worr commented 12 years ago

I lost interest because Clocky and Russ didn't like it. I'll do it, since I talked to some other nethack players that like the idea. After

18 of course.
