I'm starting to get a feeling this project is no longer supported by LG which is really unfortunate.
@jamescahall wow, I was just thinking of posting that exact same comment maybe two hours ago but figured I would give them a couple more weeks to reply. Wonder if it would be a good idea to make a community fork. Apple TV 4 support is really needed and there are a few bugs that could really use a real fix.
Probably a good idea yes. I've built out support for Samsung Multiscreen 2.0 I can share and would like to see Apple TV 4 working as well.
It is very unfortunate about the project, indeed. This news story probably explains the situation: http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/18/10449518/lg-layoffs-webos-silicon-valley-lab
Hello,
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Connect SDK is currently unavailable due to domain name renewal. It will be take some time.
We will let you know when it is available again.
Thank you.
@jamescahall @mntgoat Community fork + 1
@frolov-alexey hasn't done any public commits since november. So I've had the feeling for some time now, just never the time to find out what happened exactly. I saw a response of @iadnan though in December, who seems to be someone from LG.
I'm wrapping up a few critical projects but we should start discussing this more offline of this topic so we can work on it together. Feel free to reach out to me on my contact page at: http://dmi1011.com
I've completed Samsung Multiscreen Framework 2.0 integrations for iOS and Android that we can integrate directly in to the main project.
Website still down, after almost 2 months! Has at least anyone got a copy of the documentation? Would really appreciate it.
Hi @Rapsoulhs, I use this cache:
https://web.archive.org/web/20150428052744/http://connectsdk.com/docs
Hi @orilux, thanks for mentioning web archive, but I've tried it already and it seems like they don't have cached anything past /docs. Not even any previous versions i.e 1-5-0.
@Rapsoulhs sorry about that - I have sent you the wrong date. Try this: https://web.archive.org/web/20150428052744/http://connectsdk.com/docs
(I'll update the previous post too)
Now, that's at least something! Thanks a lot! :+1:
I've found this http://www.svlconnectsdk.com
Maybe they're unable to renew the domain due to them losing control of it? 'svl' would be 'silicon valley labs'. Doesn't mean that I trust it, since the domain whois is private.
Thanks for sharing, @aarasp. Overall I think this is a good sign - I was genuinely concerned that there is not enough interest in the project and it will be cancelled in light of the layoffs at LG. I am glad to see all the activity on this board.
@aarasp Thanks a lot! Happy coding guys :)
Ok update
Hello, It is working properly now. Please check again at Connect SDK. Thank you.
Link to this comment
if you go here, http://developer.lge.com/webOSTV/sdk/second-screen-app/
and check the url of the button goes here http://svlconnectsdk.com/
so they change domain name for some reason.
They probably lost control of the GoDaddy account on which it is registered. That they have a website now doesn't mean that it's going to be maintained again..
New problem: The e-mail support address is not working. I've tried @connectsdk.com and @svlconnectsdk.com but none of it's working. Probably the mail servers are still configured with the previous configuration.
svlconnectsdk.com has not MX records, at all.
Maybe it's an option to update the webaddress in the github organisation?
Well, I think it took long enough. So: https://github.com/BeamSDK
Well I'm glad someone has done it. Now that is fairly clear that the project is abandoned I think I will take some time to fix some of the small bugs I've reported and submit them to your new repo. Thanks.
+1
I think it might be all but confirmed that this project is dead now. It looks like the latest WebOS TV firmware doesn't work with ConnectSDK anymore.
Once again they have broken playback on WebOS, this time it mostly affect m3u8 videos. Anyone have any idea how to fix it?
I'd love to get started using the ConnectSDK, however, the website (http://www.connectsdk.com/) seems to be offline for days now. Is there any other way to obtain the docs? Thank you!
