We've noticed that Big (~3.5 mgas) transactions are slow to trace, you can find below some of the details

Selection time performance (Execution + line counting) :

Number of blocks : 97, each block is 7 million gas
Mean: 1092.57 ms
Median: 1093.0 ms
75th Percentile: 1128.0 ms
95th Percentile: 1182.0 ms
99th Percentile: 1188.75 ms

Each block in this case has only 2 transactions.
