integrate travis-ci #49

wrote to the company about getting a free account on a private repo until we release publicly soon

thanks! it looks like they also give 100 free runs if we want to try it out (e.g. once we're pretty confident that everything else is working). we could integrate with travis CI as the last step, then publish the repository so we switch to the free account.
