An Anaconda update on 6/2/2019 caused problems with some packages. To resolve all problems I did a clean reinstall of Windows 10 on 7/2/2019 and then downloaded and installed the latest version of Anaconda (current user only). I then tried to install the Basemap package via the Anaconda Navigator in the base (root) environment in the standard way... searching on non-installed packages, checking basemap and hitting "Apply".
Actual Behavior
A pop-up box appears with "The following packages will be modified" (box below is blank) and the Solving Package specifications bar chugs away.
After a short time the install packages box changes to "No packages will be modified", with a message in the box saying "Downgrading/removing these packages will modify Anaconda Navigator dependencies". Text below the box reads "NavigatorDependenciesError".
basemap does not appear in my installed packages afterwards.
After this was unsuccessful I opened the Anaconda Prompt and tried "conda install -c anaconda basemap". The Solving Specifications message with flashing in-progress cursor appeared with no change or result for >10 minutes... I closed Anaconda prompt down after that.
Expected Behavior
basemap should successfully install and appear in my Installed packages list after a refresh.
Steps to Reproduce
As described above in actual behaviour.
Anaconda or Miniconda version:
Anaconda 2018.12 for Windows installer, python 2.7 version, 64-bit graphical installer
