Error 'pythonw.exe has stopped working' when launching Spyder, Windows 10 #9528

Actual Behavior

I am using anaconda with python 2.7 for the last year. Today, when I tried to open Spyder I got the error 'pythonw.exe has stopped working'. image

Expected Behavior

Yesterday I used python normally and I did not change anything that could explain what happens today. So I would expect Spyder to launch!

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Well, just by clicking on anaconda navigator or spyder..
Anaconda or Miniconda version:

conda version : 4.5.4

Operating System:

Windows 10

What I have tried:

After reading some related posts I run in Anaconda command prompt these: conda update conda conda update anaconda conda update anaconda-navigator Then, I restarted my computer but nothing has changed. Same problem. Python has stopped working. Maybe worth to mention that I have another anaconda environment with Python 3 but I don't want to use that because all the libraries I installed the last year are in the anaconda environment with Python 2.7.

Perhaps you need to update pyqt. See here.
