Some text you could use: How does this work? At Altgeld Sawyer Corner Farm, we work with our neighbors to grow food, share it, and build the relationships that make a community.
Instead of the "sign up to volunteer" button, could we do another header like the "who are we?" and have it say "We're recruiting for 2018" and then a link or button that says "Sign Up" ?
Are we distinguishing at all between Kickoff Meeting vs. Orientations or calling them all the same thing? I'm definitely behind on this so feel free to ignore -- it reads right now like you can come to any of these as a way to get involved, so if that's the intent I think it's good! If we have RSVP links, we might want to add those.
I have the website mostly coded (in a splash-page branch that I don't think I've committed yet, oops), biggest to-do left is fighting with those partial underlines on the Grow With Us header. Do we want to meet up today to finalize and maybe get it live if time allows? I'm free after work, will be at Clybourn around 5:40pm.
That all sounds good to me. I'm traveling back to Chicago tonight so unfortunately can't meet up, but can likely be online to hash out any DNS issues -- @savannahmillion is catching up this morning and will chime in soon!
Re: Orientations vs Kickoff meetings, just saw this flyer from Maggie that I think is getting printed for the fundraiser, in case we want to match language:
Hey, I was offline over the weekend and missed the email thread, I'm so sorry! I can't meet up this afternoon either, but @sambors if you commit what you have I can set aside time today and look and help with stuff like the underlines / responsiveness / etc. BTW that splash page looks great! Also, I have that footer coded (and I might not have committed it yet either; checking after I post this comment)
That all works for me. I'll make some updates to the site and commit, happy to be online to work through any more updates and hosting issues this evening.
In my live site I skipped the footer and instead added a coming soon section. If your footer is ready though, we can add that in also.
All done! Pushed my changes up to the splashpage branch.
Here's my first stab at a splash page. Open to any and all criticism, probably will revisit this in the evening, especially the "how does this work" section. I want to find some icons to act as bullet points for the different events, and should also add a reference to the 2nd and 3rd sessions each having a workshop attached to them.
