@CorvetteCole Stay away from Crowdin though, send in a request on https://hosted.weblate.org/hosting/ instead :) AsteroidOS is already on there.
Out of curiosity, what's wrong with Crowdin?
I second this @comradekingu . I've used Crowdin in the past and they are good to open source projects
@davwheat @CorvetteCole What happens is their effort to gain following that way sublicenses strings into their closed translation memory. Insofar as such projects are copylefted (like this one), that extracts the work of unsuspecting libre software translators into something that is fundamentally not. Moreover, the plan to do this is only available to non-commercial projects. This means the accumulated following is also tied to worse opportunities for growth. We then get to what happens on the platform, and even the notion of it primarily being a translation platform becomes iffy.
TL;DR You can't use the service without accepting, that your info is sold according to ability, for the purpose personal tracking, etc., you leak info to the NSA en-masse, all of the above happens live, and it doesn't matter if info is removed afterwards, and if it did, it is not promised that it will be gone, and the GDPR supposedly can't help you, because Crowdin doesn't know what goes on on their platform (they say), and doesn't think so (good luck with that), and you are supposed to be knowledgeable about both all of the above, and continually know what is in this document, which can change at any time, based on a date timestamp at the end.)
Thank you @comradekingu very much for this write up. I will be staying away from Crowdin and will either self-host or request gratis hosting from the link you provided. Privacy is a big deal for me and that is definitely not acceptable
create a project with Crowdin etc for localizations
