What does this mean?

In addition, if the aim is for these notes to mean something to the user I can tell you that “ [2014-12-17T21:05:18Z oag] no plugin for canonicalising pmcid” doesn’t mean anything to me.

I also looked again at Nevelina’ s demo interface, that’s looking good too. I don’t have any comments/suggestions for it at this point but will take a look again when it’s nearer to what it will ultimately look like.

Thinking about the standard/deluxe compliance columns, in light of the confusion around xml full text/human full text, I should specify that the human full text of articles needs to be in Europe PMC to be compliant. The XML doesn’t have to be there. Might be helpful when you’re looking at the logic.

Finally, just to list out what we discussed in the meeting in terms of changes to the spreadsheet:

• [x] Addition of column for whether the human full text is in Europe PMC
• [x] Addition of standard and deluxe compliance columns
• [x] Addition of journal and publisher columns
• [x] Addition of explanatory note when it is not possible to get just one article returned
• [x] If there is information in the licence metadata in epmc but it’s not a CC licence then to return “non-standard licence” as the result for those cells. Same for licences returned by OAG.
• [x] Cells where no information is returned should have “unknown” or an equivalent that makes sense placed in them rather than be left blank.
• [x] Creation of explanatory documentation explaining what is contained in each column, it’s source etc.

A couple of notes:

• We are not collecting Journal Name from EPMC at this stage, but it is a column in the incoming master spreadsheet. This means it will be reflected back when the result sheet is downloaded. But I have added in the ISSN that we look up each time anyway.
• I have added "unknown" to the aam and licence cells, but not to any others. Review this when we see a full version of the new style sheet and see which other columns need it.

As for the comprehensibility of the error messages that come back from OAG - there's not a lot we can do. Within the context of OAG usage they have meaning, but certainly that's not so clear to the end user. Nonetheless, omitting them means that if there is an error we wouldn't be able to diagnose it so easily from the spreadsheet if we provided something more user-friendly but (inevitably) less informational.
