Cannot send a message after a request has expired or been declined #4141

Results: i'm not sure if it's a bug, but rather an inconvenient feature. after getting denied for a couch request, the messaging system shuts off, so i can't write back to say "thanks for writing back" or whatever. also, when being approved, but the request has expired, i can't write back to follow up. also, when messaging, after sending one message, i can't send another, so if i don't say everything i wanted to before i push ENTER, then i'm stuck with that, and can't finish the message. it would be much more convenient if all messages would follow one thread, whether requesting a couch, or jjust chatting, cuz sometimes doing one, can lead to the other. thanks

Can we enable messaging even if the person declines the request? This problem has come up several times, and there is little risk to allowing messaging even after the request has been declined. If we need a time limit, we could allow messaging on the request for up to 7 days after the request has ended.
