Recognize wood chippers as combines (for unloading) #771

I know you guys are I'm sure swamped with other issues but just thought I'd throw this out there: Do with this thought as you see fit. Wondering if it is at all possible for a wood chipper to be a select-able "combine"? For example having a mode2 course to a wooded area and as you'd move the chipper around the tractor/trailer would drive to the chipper as it would for the Krone BigX (doesn't have a grain tank) for example. Just an idea I had. Thanks for all you guys do with this! 11 out of 10 stars!

I have a modded Wood chipper that is recognize by courseplay as a combine. But I have also one that is not recognized. I don't know why only this one. Here is the links if you want it. http://www.modhoster.de/mods/jenz-holzhacker

@gui7545 which ones are the ones that are recognized, and which ones aren't?

jhomer commented 9 years ago

This modded one also is recognized: http://www.modhoster.com/mods/crasher. Looked at the modDesc and there's no vehicle types listed so it should be standard. (I'll check the default one) Even the modded one being select-able in the combine search the tractor/trailer would not drive to it. And also should note that the wood chipper does not allow the request driver tab mode so you cannot request the tractor/trailer.

Erratum, I have test 3: 2 modded on the original one an there are all selectable as a combine in the "Combine control" page. You just need to attach a tractor to see it. But the tractors will not drive to it as @jhomer said. fsscreen_2014_12_14_15_34_06

please test v 216 or higher and report....

Works good! Tried a modded one and the default chipper. The only thing I noticed was the tractor/trailer inches ahead when logs are put in the chipper I suppose from the movable chute that's on the chipper but it only goes as far ahead until the chipper chute stops turning then the tractor/trailer will not inch ahead anymore and stays in range. You cannot request a driver from the chipper but I don't think that's needed as the tractor/trailer went to the chipper each time.

so we can close it ?

jhomer commented 9 years ago

Yes, all should be good. Thanks!

Hey guys, Not to reopen this issue again but after running this some more, when I mentioned that the tractor/trailer inches ahead because of the movable chipper spout the "tractor is slipping" message keeps coming up off and on and does this inching ahead until the spout stops turning. But during the inching ahead the slipping message goes on and off constantly. I even tried to activate 4wd all the time but still does it. Other than it being annoying it works just fine. Just thought I'd mention.

please try again with v240 or higher....

Works perfect!!! Tractor/trailer pulls up and stops and doesn't move until its full. I'm not complaining but I'm sure you guys like to be informed, the only other thing is that when the tractor pulls up it gets real close to the back of the chipper when it starts to turn back out to go under the spout. Especially when it comes in from the spout side of the chipper. I should have taken a screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about. I'll try and do that yet. Thanks!

Well we are working on improving the turn maneuvers for mode2 but it might not fix the getting close to the chipper. An work around might be to increase the turning circle to the double.
