User Defined Keys #130

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This is an enhancement request.

It would be nice to have an alternate screen that allows a user to define a key
that would send a string rather than a character such as an email address, name
or birth date. I know it would save me a lot of time with repetitious data.

I realize this isn't the purpose or intention of a keyboard but it would be
great to have.

Yes, I've wanted that feature myself, and I'm planning to include this
functionality as part of the user-customizable key maps I'm currently working
on. The basic logic is already present, for example the ":-)" key and its
long-press alternates already send strings, so it's not very difficult to do
once the basic customizability framework is in place.
