GeForceSensors started but GPU fan remains constant at 19 rpm #251

Hi,

I'm currently using OS X 10.10 with nvidia retail driver v343.01.01f01. My GFX card is Asus GTX 780 - GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5. I'm booting using clover and custom DSDT.aml, and SSDT.aml for CPU PM.

I'm using the latest release version of HWSensors - 6.11.1328 with same version of FakeSMC.kext with all the plugins.

On booting, the log is showing that the VBIOS is read correctly and loaded, and GeforceSensors started. The issue is the reading of GPU fan remains constant at 19 rpm.

GPU Core and Memory frequency and GPU Core voltage is loaded appropriately as well, and is responding to stress test.

I have tried loading different VBIOS versions for this card, as well as trying other manufacturer VBIOS, but still no luck in detecting the fan speed.

Thanks in advance, and let me know if you need other info.

I have the same issue with the 19RPM indicator for GPU fan. I am running a GeForce Titan Black.

Hi just to update my findings. After some trial and error, I have found out that this issue started by installing the nvidia web driver. On a fresh Yosemite install, everything works well with the fan RPM. Once I install the web driver - this issue is back.

Any help please?

Are you using a Titan Black?

Oh. I'm using a Titan Black and the web drivers are required to even see anything.

Any updates on this? I have the same problem with a GK110 based "classic" Titan. Can also confirm that this only happens with the NVIDIA drivers, not the stock drivers. I am pretty sure this is cosmetic, i.e. values are simply not reported correctly based on my own tests. But still it would be nice if this issue could be fixed.
