Advantages:

A permanent, distributed, long-term store of licensing information (or at least of proof of the correctness of licensing information).
Interesting use of new technology.

Disadvantages:

Information cannot be removed from the blockchain, this includes incorrect information.
Bitcoin has its detractors.
