I've tried to open the PerceptualCrossingApp.pde using latest version of Processing (3.5.4) and installed the required library (controlP5).
I've notice that in one of the two devices one LCD screen is not properly working, the screen jitters as if the internal connection is not stable. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting it again but it doesn't help.
I've then connected the tracking ball and button boxes to the devices and the devices to the compute via usb. When running the app, I went to the SERIAL PORTS tab to activate the communication. I selected the correct ports in the drop down menus and clicked on the the two units connect buttons. Both units would beep and the one with the LCD working would display READY. At this point I could see the bars moving in the app when I would move both tracking balls, but I could not detect any haptic feedback.
I went back to the main tab and tried clicking on the various button "Manual Mode", "Free Practice Mode", "Start Trial", "Start Round" but I could not understand properly what each mode was supposed to do. In several instances the app would get stuck and some exceptions would appear in the console output.
Can you check the faulty LCD screen by plugging it into the other device to see if the problem persists - I want to know for certain if it is the screen module, or the DCU, that is faulty.
I've started work on documentation for the perceptual crossing app here
@CreativeRobotics I've tried to connect the faulty LCD screen in the other device and still it doesn't work properly, so it seems an LCD issue.
@CreativeRobotics thanks for starting the documentation. Even though one LCD was not showing anything I was able to go through a trial round. Following you instructions I could see the buttons lighting up when pressed. But I wasn't able to perceive any haptics or audio feedback. Is there any specific configuration the output modules need to be setup?
I'll get back to you on the haptics issue - I don't have a full set of kit for the perceptual crossing experiments here so I need to rig up something to test it with. I will try and work out some instructions for disassembling the screen, its possible it got damaged during shipping.
