Make train tracks movable as part of contraptions #3201

Open sersorrel opened 1 year ago

Describe the Suggestion

Train tracks currently can't be attached to moving contraptions – either they get left behind, or the contraption fails to assemble and complains about "Unmovable Block (Train Track)". Unfortunately, this prevents building things like turntables. It would be great if this limitation could be removed.

I think its done so it can calculated stuff while its unloaded but idk

Besides turntables you also cannot build lift bridges and bascule bridges, hoped I could build them, sad to see I can't. But there are probably more reasons. Can you ride/control the train while the contraption is moving? Or what happens if a train is right on the edge, partially on solid ground and partially on moving ground? I guess that would make the whole thing just way to complex.

Even if you can't automate trains going on unloaded tracks that are part of contraptions, it would be nice for player-driven locomotives. I'd love to be able to send a small tram down a lift that meets up with track lower down in the world.

That said, there's a potential possibility that players could chunk-load movable tracks for automation purposes using either commands or other mods to achieve chunk-loading...

i wish for this to be added

To be honest, the simplest "fix" would just be to use the current derailment mechanic, where it just marks the train as derailed if that happens.
