better one for you, allow tracks to be supper glued, then you can use a mechanical bearing, and sequenced gearshift to make a turntable

If this were to be added, I think scheduled trains would need to be able to control the turntable so that their routing works.

One suggestion I would have in regards to this:

Add a special type of track that is movable. I get that due to how train tracks are implemented as a network that works even outside of chunks, and how trains are built with sometimes glue intersecting train tracks, making normal tracks movable does not make much sense. However a special type of track that is movable and separate from normal track (e.g. movable track would not be able to have train stations disassemble/assemble trains on it.) could work as a compromise.
