Trains are really cool, don't get me wrong, but there are quite a few features missing that I think should be added to "complete" the train sector.
Articulation. When building a train, you are normally limited to two bogeys/car. This makes it so articulating a train is impossible. Instead, I think having an extra option when cycling through bogeys would be nice, maybe have it come after the large wheel. This would allow for trams and articulated freight/passenger cars to be made which adds a lot more functionality.
More train sounds. Since trains normally make a steam engine sound, I think you should be able to change this. When setting up the train, trains should be able to be reconfigured to have a diesel or electric train sound. That way your diesel or electric doesn't sound like a steam locomotive.
Better whistles.
a. Instead of one whistle acting as the whistle for the entire train, add a whistle that can be bound to the train controls so that it blows when you are driving from that control.
b. You should be able to create multi-chime whistles by putting multiple whistles off the side of the fluid tank. Pressing the whistle key will trigger all of these creating a nice chord.
c. Since diesels and most electrics don't have whistles, add horns too! For trains with whistles and horns, make the horn controlled with RCTRL and the whistle with LCTRL. They will have the same properties as whistles and the above changes to whistles will apply as well.
Bells. When you place a bell on a train, hitting B should make the bell ring!
Let me know if these suggestions are worth pursuing! Thank you for reading.
