When a basin is placed beneath another basin off to the side, a mini-chute will appear to automatically drop items crafted from the upper basin into the lower one. It will only drop up to 16 of the item down; the 17th will remain in the chute, not seen by waila/jade but still there, and it will stop crafting then.
By chute I don't mean the chute block, I mean the little hole at the side that drops items lower down automatically.
However, if you place a basin beneath another that has already been crafted, it will drop 16 immediately, but apparently void any excess items that have been crafted beyond that. During testing I crafted 19 andesite alloy and placed the basin beneath it. 16 fell in, 1 remained in the basin, and the remaining 2 vanished.
Reproduction Steps
Using a mechanical mixer, craft 32 or more of an item (I used andesite alloy) and leave them in the basin
Place another basin beneath the first, so that items fall through
Collect all the items from all basins and check how much andesite alloy you have.
Expected Result
You should be able to extract as much andesite alloy as you originally had; in that case, 32. Some may linger in the original basin, some in the chute between them, but destroying the setup should return everything you crafted.
