[Feature] Fabric support #710

Closed Altheran88 closed 2 years ago

Altheran88 commented 3 years ago

Hi, I will raise this one from the 'closed grave' as it seems Fabric is gaining more traction, and a Feature request where people can vote and comment could give a good place to gather the 'feel' of the community :)

Lots of Mods stuck on 1.12.2 on Forge right now and those on Fabric are being updated really fast ! Plus the Codebase and optimizations in Fabric are VERY Perf friendly.

With Iris being in VERY active developpement (Optifine Shaders support in a better 'Frabric way'), Fabric seems to be the future of modding, as is Create !

Maybe this could be another repo beside 'Create', 'Create_Fabric' maybe ?

As much as I love fabric, forge is not going away any time soon. And if you look here you can see that create team already said that they themselves won't do this because of the amount of work needed to be done to even run this mod on fabric this will most likely be a third-party project.

I really like Fabric but as much as I don't want to be spammed with requests for Forge ports on my Fabric mods, I'm sure the Create devs feel the same way the other way around. #136

I really think fabric is going to be the future of minecraft modding. I think a fabric port should be reconsidered with it's new traction. unfortunately, it would take a massive amount of work due to how much of forge Create relies on.

Please read the FAQ, a fabric version is not being considered at this time.
