Investigate why fixes are applied inconsistently across users #153

As noted in this comment on #131, this comment on #125 and this comment on #123, certain fixes seem to have been applied for some users (definitely test5 & test7) but not others (definitely not test11 & test12).

Fortunately fixes do seem to have been applied for the most recently created test users at the time of writing, but this inconsistency should be thoroughly investigated and resolved when time allows.

Also tested making a purchase request from test11 to test7 - failed with a timeout error.
