The Woolly Mammoth is basically a larger, more hairy elephant. :elephant: It is one of the iconic large mammals of the Ice Age that have gone extinct soon after, alongside sabre-tooth cat and, perhaps, cave bear, giant sloth #112 and armadillo. The most iconic animal gone extinct in modern times, is probably the dodo #143, at least in the Anglosphere.

Mammoths are a common metaphor for enormous size and sometimes also for lack of adaptability.
