Unable to save/load when modded and in-game #89

Describe the bug I can't use the save/load menu in game. It works fine in the main menu, and everything seems A-OK, but when I open up the system menu and "click" Quick Save, Save or Load, I just hear the auditory feedback for clicking and nothing else happens at all. Autosaves do work, they happen, so this thing is technically playable by way of me triggering an autosave before I quit and then loading it again next time, but, I want everything working of course. The problem isn't there in vanilla Skyrim VR. I'm not running third party antivirus, I've got exceptions in windows security as instructed, and manually turning off real time virus protection didn't help either.

To Reproduce I genuinely just followed the install instructions and ended up with this right away on the first game.

Screenshots Everything's fine in main menu, and the autosaves I get do work. But in-game when I click Quick Save, Save or Load I can't get past this state.

Save Add a save to reproduce your problem. You can find them at Yggdrasil VR/profiles/Yggdrasil/saves. Autosave.zip

Crash log No crashing happens, so, no log.

11:27 AM]Meri: :blobcatpeekaboo: Hey! I have an issue. I've been through the documentation I could find, the FAQ and the Googles and I can't really find any answers that help me and seem relevant to my exact issue. Apologies for taking up people's time and attention, but also, please help ❤️ I can't use the save/load menu in game. :blobcat: thanks for reading so far [11:28 AM]Meri: My guess is that it's a SkyUI issue, but Googling along those lines wasn't getting me far either. I am known to be bad at Googling though, despite being an IT guy. >.< [11:36 AM]Meri: Oh, ah, should I use the forum? I've never used a Discord forum thing before, I didn't even notice it coming in, sorry >.> [11:49 AM]Meri: I can't really tell... is this a "quick install issue"? I'll post it like that if it is [12:11 PM]Crit: Not sure that works with vr? Either way I think that's built into the dlss mod [12:12 PM]Crit: Sounds like an in-game bug, I haven't seen anything like that tho, you still can't save after a game restart? [12:13 PM]Meri: Indeed, a Windows reboot didn't help with that either. [12:13 PM]Meri: And like, I can -save-, just not using the save menu in-game. [12:13 PM]Meri: And it's fine when I run it vanilla, just hitting Skyrim VR in VR Home. [12:14 PM]Meri: The only "tweak" I've done is turning off auto sneak with the checkbox in the mod manager. [12:43 PM]Meri: Oh right, @Crit ping you when I reply 🙂 [12:44 PM]Crit: First one to actually get it hahaha [12:44 PM]Meri: :blobcathappy: [12:45 PM]Crit: Not really sure tbh, usually if the save button thing is disabled it's because the location or something else is preventing it. I'll have to investigate further [12:47 PM]Meri: What can I do to help? I can VC, stream, send screenshots. Take your time tho, this isn't my only game :meowgiggle: [12:49 PM]Crit: Is this a new save? Anything else that's odd? [12:51 PM]Meri: It's genuinely off a fresh install. I bought Skyrim VR having been warned that I would want to mod it, so I dove straight into Yggdrasil VR off a recommendation I found on the web. As instructed I ran the VR tutorial first, then did the mod installs and started playing the mods. I haven't gotten out of the starting area at all yet. [12:52 PM]Crit: Could try doing that? Just go anywhere and see if it lets you save. Could also use the Wait mechanic and see if that helps unlock the option [1:00 PM]Meri: Mmm, no dice so far. Grabbed the shard that teleported me to Markarth, Shrine of Talos. Tried saving. Waited, went back to main menu, loaded the wait autosave. Still doesn't work. [1:02 PM]Crit: can you make a github issue and we can continue there? [1:02 PM]Meri: 👍 [1:02 PM]Crit: thank you [1:02 PM]Crit: justin case someone else has a similar issue

Oh so the buttons aren't in a disabled state, but instead don't do anything? That's curious, can you post your wabbajack install log? I wonder if something didn't install correctly.

Mergon commented 1 year ago

logs.zip There ya go! I'm assuming you wanted Wabbajack/logs. I only did this one install... there might be a log of an initial attempt to install which got literally nowhere because I was fumbling with nexus login.
