This should have already been fixed along with placing the respawn timer over the player image. Did it get reverted?

Let me clarify that this PR fixes this in MvM and Valve Competitive, and the fixes you made are fine

Fixed in 53d9f95a2e3b597bb1a59abd46b78ba105f53cc5 where the original fixes applied to spectator tournament have been restored.
