When I use trim call back also the text markup / line breaks is removed. Is there a way to avoid it?

Any ideas when the pull request will be merged? OR if the issue will be resolved another way? I'm looking for an elegant solution to trim my post content for non logged in users (like Medium does https://medium.com/invisible-illness/5-subtle-signs-you-experienced-a-rough-childhood-aa4e6a81ffeb) and was hoping this would be the solution
