From Jay Greenfield, July 1, in Google Document. Would this be a classification scheme for digital objects comparable to a mime type? If so, do we want to also say what the resource is about? In schema.org About goes to CommunicateAction, CreativeWork and Event.

The idea is that Resource type would populate from a vocabulary like DataCite resourcetypeGeneral. MIME type kind of typeing would be in encodingFormat. There's also a 'conformsTo' property to specify serialization schemes that are more specific than just the mime type file format.

The proposal on the table is that the CDIF JSON-LD would be a metadata object, with an 'about' property that has the information about the resource it describes. This is in the implementation section (Appendix 1)
