If I remember correctly the teensy is only necessary if you will use midi over USB. If you by output signal mean the clock, it is fine for synchronization of gear. However, if you will make multiple take recordings it might not be exact enough if using drums or similar sound with very precise recurring transients. For more ambient kind of sounds it will probably work fine.
