“Clarify the rationale for using the Bayesian analysis over ‘traditional’ hypothesis testing, especially around non-parametric tests and the importance of the effect size distribution” — 1AC meta review

“I am not sure I totally understand the rationale for the Bayesian analysis. With hypothesis testing, you can also get the effect size, which would provide the “how strong is the effect”. This work had sample sizes that were above 30 and if data doesn’t fit normality and homogeneity of variance, non-parametric tests can be used. Further, after reading the results, I’m not clear on how the distribution of the effect size was really used, since the summary of the results has the same type of outcome (“X was significantly more than Y, with a medium/large effect size”). I’m not saying this was necessarily wrong, but I would like the explanation for why this was used over more traditional methods to explain why it was the best to use in this case and to focus on the explanations that actually fit the scenario at hand."
