Sync Data no longer discoverable #150

Hi!

the current scenario I’m facing is certain games Shader cache files are not being found.

I’m not sure if this is directly affected due to this but here is my example.

When attempting to reinstall Midnight Suns, I came across a Steam Cloud Issue that is persistent. Out of hunch, I figured I would delete the shader cache. When looking for it in this script, the sync data / delete data did not display Midnight suns. When looking into the files of my Steam Deck, the shadder file size was listed as a “?” Along with a handful of other games but those were uninstalled games.

Any idea if this was caused by the script?

It sounds like you deleted the "destination" directory of the shadercache, but not the symlink that was placed there to link the 2. If the game's save is uploaded to Steam Cloud then the easiest way to fix this would be to:

  1. Run CU2 again
  2. Go to the Game data tab
  3. Choose "Clean"
  4. Select Midnight Suns from the list and clean those files.

After that, boot the game normally as you would in Game mode and it should work afterwards 🙂

Hi thanks for the quick response! The issue I came across with the “clean” option is midnight suns is not being found here either

CryoByte33 commented 1 year ago

Oh, I'm sorry for missing that! If it's not found there then for some reason it thinks that no data is present. In that case I'd delete the following folders:

This is what the "clean" function is, so it should have the same effect. Please let me know which (if any) of those folders exist, since this might be a bug!

ElOso03 commented 1 year ago

Thanks for the steps! I do not believe the folders exist. I followed your steps for Steamapps and the only result is of a symlink with “0 B” in size

when searching the CryoU folders, no files exist

CryoByte33 commented 1 year ago

The symlink is very likely the issue, did you try deleting it and starting the game?

ElOso03 commented 1 year ago

Gotcha! I did try but for whatever reason the game crashes during its initial load. The issue could be something else.. The steam cloud refuses to sync no matter the amount of attempts.

I attempted to redownload The Last of Us and it’s have the same issue with the Symlink, not being found in the sync or clean within CryoU and issues with Steam Cloud.

Sorry for bugging ya on a issue that might not be related to CryoU
