Packaging for ubuntu #18

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hello again,
it's still me. I've created a package for Ubuntu (will most probably work on
debian too, but I haven't
tried) for this project.

Package is attached. A small patch in your code is needed (it changes the name
of the package in
something without spaces and makes the gmount script launchable also from a
link to that file)

Since the python-gdata library hasn't been updated yet in ubuntu (not even in
lucid), this package will
not be installable right away.
The user has to download the gdata library (from the link you provide in the
"Wiki") and run
sudo checkinstall ./install
There is an easy step-by step guide to follow. Default values are fine, apart
from the "Name" (option 2),
that must be changed to "python-gdata". This creates a .deb file that can be
installed. This solves the
required dependency.

If you want, I can upload this to Launchpad (ubuntu's "google code"), which
makes it easies to share
the package and update it automatically.

Anyway, I'll stop bugging you for tonight.

Cheers mate, I'll sort the patches out and put it up under the downloads section
tonight. Feel free to upload it to Launchpad. It'll give more people the
opportunity
to use this, as well as, hopefully, giving Ubuntu some incentive to update the
gdata-client to 2.0.x.

Cheers,
Scott.

Cheers for that. I'm going to upload the .deb onto the main Downloads page.
I'll also
upload a copy of python-gdata for download.

I've set up the repository in Launchpad:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~invernizzi/+archive/google-docs-fs
Everything seems to work fine.

After some testing, I'll look into getting the package in Ubuntu.
Cheers to you,
  Luca

Ah, mate I've just noticed you've listed the license as GPLv3. I explicitly only
license it under GPLv2, mostly because I've never gotten round to reading and
understanding GPLv3. I'd appreciate it if you'd change that section, just to
avoid
confusion for now.

Thanks for your good work. I'll test the packages on my 64-bit install some time
tomorrow just to confirm they work then I'll close this ticket and put a link to
Launchpad in the manual and README.

Cheers :-)
Scott

Ok I've not had any problems related to this so I'm assuming it's all good.
Cheers
for packaging it.
