In the instance directory you'll find an executable called AMPCA.exe - if you try and open it do you get any errors? (This program will not produce any visible output)

i believe i did not it flashed a window real quick but no error messages

Just been taking a look at this, it seems to only affect Windows Server 2019.

Did you install AMP as a new user, or did you use the default Administrator user?

neo130288 commented 4 years ago

i used the default admin user i dont have any other user accounts on the server

I'm pretty sure this is the reason for the issue. There's a reason the setup guide says to create a new user.

Please create a new user and install as per the installation instructions.

I've been looking more at this - it looks like its a bug in the Factorio server itself. It occurs when running outside of AMP - and it doesn't appear to be honouring the setting files that tell it where to write data to. It keeps trying to write to the users profile which isn't going to work.

It looks like that until the Factorio developers address this then Server 2019 is going to have to be unsupported. Try running it inside WSL instead.

I am afraid I will have to disagree with your last post, I have a fully working factorio server using a very basic tool in the same environment and that tool hasn’t been updated since 1st of march 2019.

I have just looked up the server manager I am using and it was updated 9 days ago, however I am still running the older version. Also I am not running both servers at the same time nor are they sharing a directory or ports.

And I bet good money you're running that tool as Administrator. Run it as another user, see what happens. "it works for me" doesn't count if you're admin.
