Lacks of english subtitles #54

Many series and movies lack the original english subtitles in CuevanaStorm. This is strange because on both the other popcorn apps: http://www.time4popcorn.eu and http://www.flixtor.com ..the same movies and series have a lot of subtitles availables. Why you don't use the same sources?

sharkiller commented 10 years ago

cuevana use their own api. and was designed only to be in spanish. thats why you can add your own subtitles now. btw time4popcorn is scam, beware what you install

Foxito commented 10 years ago

why scam? could you elaborate a bit please?

I also would like that cuevana release the API, the other projects i have seen here, and i think T4PC too, are using the YIFY APIs.

@Foxito they steal code, dont release them, put features that dont work only grow up their userbase who knows for what. for weeks they do interviews for a lot of pages to gain more and more userbase even when their code never works(tvshows). in the code you can find suspicious images to track the users, they don't even are from analytics. after a few weeks they "release" a source code in github that is a clone of the popcorn-official repo, even the links go to that repo. with the commits of the same day. They don't even do a fork only a renamed code. If that is not fishy to you then use it.

I didn't look at T4PC code, and i didn't install it, so i can't comment about what you state. About Cuevana, i had the same problems that you mention, after i downloaded the app from their website, it was not working for me, not at all, neither after replacing the .dll . I only got it to work after@ivantodorovich helped me to build it from github. BTW there were also rants about cuevana distributing the app without any mention to popcorn-time, and not releasing the code, then things got fixed. As you said, it was designed as a spanish version and it's good, maybe the other projects need also helpful people that contribute to fix it. And cuevana if i remember well, also was using G.Analytics until someone reported this. I don't judge this, each user has his own thoughts, a few days ago we were discussing if a login would be good or not, some users are reluctants to share even the minimum info about them, others don't care.

I just hope that cuevana would release the API, but they didn't even comment about this proposal. So, somewhat they also keep part of the project for themselves.

The fact that Cuevana is spanish doesn't mean anything. Lot of spanish people like to watch a movie or a tv series in the original language. CuevanaStorm should always offer both the spanish subtitles and the original language subtitles (usually english). This is because even spanish people who know english need the english subtitles to fully understand everything and to enjoy the original lip synching of the actors.
