Hello @mike0000004,
Different users have different opinions on this. Some professional teleprompter operators prompting for a talent might prefer a full stop because it means the text will gradually increase in its speed, which is easier on their eyes. Meanwhile someone prompting for themselves will find it more convenient to pause and resume, instead of a full stop.
QPrompt covers the needs of a wide range of users. According to a small sample survey I did in our Telegram chat, there is a 40/40 percent split between studio + live event prompter operators and those who prompt to record themselves. The remaining 20% are equipment distributors, which primarily target studios. This means studio operators and live event operators are our primary user target. I market QPrompt as a personal teleprompter app, but since its favored by studio operators, the app's defaults must favor them. I'm currently working on an alternate UI, better at satisfying the needs of in-studio users.
I will try to make this setting easier to customize. Nevertheless, full stop will remain the default for the time being. At least until the alternate UI is complete.
QPrompt is very near perfect except for this feature, well done. When using QPrompt and speaking I need to be able to quickly pause scrolling to ad lib, or if screen is scrolling too fast and then restart scrolling again quickly. Live Speaking is hard enough. The obvious way to do this is to use the biggest key on the keyboard (the space bar) to press once for pause and once again (as a toggle) to restart scrolling. Control key plus P key to do this is too difficult when speaking. Often with stage lighting the keyboard is hard to see but the Spacebar can always be found by touch and operated by one finger. Making that small change would make QPrompt perfect for me. Many thanks, Mike
