Hi, do you plan for this remote control to be cross devices? I mean, to be able to control scrolling of an android phone with a computer.

Cuperino commented 1 year ago

Hi Felix,

Yes. The remote control will be implemented using open and standard protocols, allowing the feature work not only cross-devices but, potentially, cross software.

Having said that, cross software support on my part would be limited to controlling other open source teleprompter apps, and not the proprietary options. I am open to commercial options being supported, but the development work would have to come and be maintained by a third party.

As for which software I plan on enabling remote control for, at the time of writing that would be QPrompt and the teleprompter app by Manifest Interactive, which albeit being a simpler app, already has remote control features. If someone were to add remote control features to Imaginary Teleprompter, I’d also add it to the list.

Hope this information helps.

Best regards, Javier

Hi Javier, thanks for replying so quickly!

I'm also wondering about the use of bluetooth remote controllers being sold by many teleprompter sellers, like Desview's Bestview T3. I don't know if the remote controller commands are standard and work out of the box or if they must be implemented in a dedicated way?

Cuperino commented 1 year ago

They’re most likely dedicated…

But it should currently be possible to use generic presentation controls, because those map to keyboard inputs and all essential QPrompt inputs are reprogramable.

If a commercial controller can be mapped to keyboard inputs, you should be able to use it as well.
