Current:

x1 is a bell/chime/[tuning fork] [tuned percussion instrument] producing sound/note x2.
Also: x1 rings/tolls (i.e. if it rings, then it is a bell); resonates (one sense, = jabdesku). See also zgike, tonga, desku, slilu.

I propose getting rid of the botpi/mruli issue by getting rid of the x2:

x1 is a bell/chime.

The sound is jabysna, and "to actually ring" is jabyselsna. (That word is actually already in jbovlaste.)

I think the gimste meaning is that the x2 is the sound inherently produced by the bell, whether or not it has got any occasion to actually produce that sound.
