Is there any specific reason for closing this? Even if a game is unsupported by HLE (compiled using LTCG) it should still be kept open with the state-unsupported label.

CakeLancelot commented 6 years ago

In any case, please upload the Xbe dump and KrnlDebug log as GitHub attachments in the future (drag and drop onto your comment). We can't guarantee the availability of third-party sites - plus it's a lot more convenient for the maintainers to read.

jmanderley commented 6 years ago

@CakeLancelot I noticed the guidelines after I posted that suggested to not bother making new issues for games that didn't do anything, but I guess in the future i'll make note of that.

I tried doing the drag and drop before but i got an error so I gave up. Only tried firefox though.

Status: It boots in LLE-GPU.

It shows an intro splash screen and then a very choppy and badly flickering FMV. Then you see the title screen and the user entered the load menu to load something. You can see the debug console window behind which shows lots of stuff are not yet implemented.

Next, you see a round presidential logo and Japanese captioning at the bottom. Then a load screen appeared before an external error message popped up: * Failed on uc_emu_start() with error returned: 6

Description

It boots in HLE-GPU. Shows intro fmv, missing title screen. Sound effects are heard when inputting, but does not work gameplay loading functions.

GPU generated an error!
Try reproing with D3D8I.LIB or D3D8D.LIB for more debugging help.

Hey everybody. A remastered version is coming out to modern platforms! According to some cursory screenshots at its Steam PC page, the GUI and presumably external dialogue will be in English localization while the in-game environments still have Japanese characters in some placements.

I can also confirm that a remastered version is on its way to PCs the world over, and there’s a trailer for it that made me say ‘whaa?’ out loud.

Publisher Devolver Digital are calling it ‘Metal Wolf Chaos XD’, and claiming it brings “updated visuals, refined gameplay, and support for 16:9 4K displays”. It’s being worked on by folks from From Software and General Arcade, and will be out out some time later this year.

Edit (Nov 30, 2020):

The original post's comment, dated October 31, 2020, under a recent PR 2022, that was opened last month on Oct 31, 2020 and merged this month on Nov 3, 2020, stated that this game should be able to boot up without crashing and maybe run visuals and audio better. Although, the crash fix probably only covers running this game in debug mode. The PR, which included a raft of Miscellaneous Direct3D LTCG fixes, was targeted mainly at LTCG titles including this game to boot up properly and/or be more stable.

Please retest this game, see what happens with it, then describe/show the results.
