use __clang__ where pragmas are clang specific
int64_t == long on some platforms.. replace all the integral atom assignment operators with a template method
fix box/patcher ambiguity

I don't actually know how @isabelgk 's commit ended up in my PR.. I assume that maybe min-devkit wasn't pointing to main so my branching from wherever it was at pulled that in??
