It should be noted that chloride exposure and corrosion damage are different concepts. Our project focuses on bridge chloride exposure estimation and doesn't involve corrosion damage assessment. Hence it's better to change this to: The entire document is written assuming deicing salts are the main source of chlorides attacking concrete structures, and chloride ions are transported from the road to the exterior surface of bridge substructures through vehicle spray and splash mechanisms. The factors that affect bridge chloride exposure are assumed to be limited to salt application practices, climatic conditions, and traffic patterns.
Please review the Section 2.2 Scope of Requirements of the SRS, and identify any additional factors contributing to bridge corrosion that we may need to address.
