What location/country are you entering in the app? Thanks!

well I can't enter a location because it crashes right after the splash screen
(about 1.5 seconds after
tapping the icon) but it was Yonkers Ny 10704 USA

I've had the app for about 5-6 months without any probs till this last update I
just installed, is there a way
to download the older versions API file? or an install deb package

I experience the same crash on 3.0.1 on the 3G. I've uninstalled/reinstalled,
but the
app still crashes after briefly showing the splash screen...

NowPlaying is not supported on iPhone OS 3.0.1. Indeed, i'm not even sure how
you installed it on that OS as
3.1 is supposed to be the minimum requirements. Could you please upgrade and
reinstall? Thanks!

I have the same crashing problem. My iPhone is on 3.0 but I was still able to
update to Now Playing's
latest version (and/or reinstall). So do you mean to say that there's nothing
that can be done to make
it work again other than upgrading to OS 3.1.

That's right. Fortunately, iPhone OS 3.1 is a free upgrade, so it's simple to
get.
Cheers!

I also have this problem with 3.0.1. I've had NowPlaying installed since
before the
upgrade to 3.x. I'm not planning to upgrade to 3.1 anytime soon since I'll lose
tethering support. Looks like I'll have to find another movie app. :(

I'm sorry. There is nothing i can do about this. Now Playing required iPhone
OS 3.1 to fix several problematic
video playback bugs (my #1 crasher). You will need to upgrade your phone
(which is free) to get NowPlaying
working again.

Again. The supported method for running this app is to use iPhone OS 3.1. You
can download that update from
Apple and install it for free.

Again. The supported method for running Now Playing is only on iPhone OS 3.1.
Please do not spam this bug
with comments about unsupported configurations.

yeah i get it....just wish this would of been told to us users before updating
to the
new version, like on the changelog said not supported by anything under
3.1...cuz now
the app is useless to around 35% of the iphone community (this is not spam)

This was stated in the changelog.
And the # of users who use my software who are jailbroken is roughly one tenth
of a percent. These are the
actual stats i have from my reporting tools.
Again, you are not running your iPhone in a supported configuration. If you
do, then Now Playing will continue
to work. Please contact apple if you want support for this configuration.

Is it not possible for you to provide an option/toggle under the iPhone's
Settings page to disable
Videos so it can be used for iPhone's with lower OS versions?
Original comment by kristi...@gmail.com

No. That's not how software works on the iPhone. You cannot create a single
app that targets multiple OS
versions. You pick an OS version to target and that's what you ship. Sorry!
However, if you simply upgrade your OS to iPhone OS 3.1 you will be fine.
Cheers!

The new update crash on load on iPhone 3GS with Firmware 3.0.
You told that, for let it work, it is necessary to upgrade the Firmware to 3.1,
but
I have a lot of applications on my iPhone which work perfectly with the
Firmware 3.0
and I'm afraid they could not work with 3.1.2: if you do not modify the upgrade
in
order to make it compatible with Firmware 3.0 also, I will be forced to
uninstall "Now Playing" and utilize a different application for finding movies
on my
iPhone. It's a pity, as your program worked perfectly before the last
upgrade....

Which apps do you have which won't work on iPhone OS 3.1?

Thanks for the replies, cyrus. I'll have to settle with using version 3.9
which I
still have on iTunes on my PC. People have various reasons why they choose not
to
upgrade to 3.1.2. Mine is I don't want to risk losing the stability of that I
enjoy
right now with 3.0 (some people who upgraded to 3.1 reported new issues/bugs
that
they never had on 3.0).

The next version of NowPlaying will run again on iPhone OS 3.0. It will be
less stable wrt movie playback (since i
will no longer be able ot make use of video fixes in iPhone OS 3.1), however it
will run on more devices.
It will take ~2-3 weeks for apple to review this upgrade.

What about using an #ifdef to have conditional version calls for different code?
Original comment by GiantO...@gmail.com
on 3 Nov 2009 at 3:23
there is no different code. it's that the 3.0 movie player is less stable than
the 3.1 movie player. So i link against
the 3.1 movie player. This, of course, doesn't work for you guys on 3.0.
However, if you upgrade to 3.1 then it will work.
Cheers!

Thanks a lot, cyrus (for bringing back 3.0 support)! Flixter and Fandango just
won't work for me because they don't cover the cinemas in my country.
