Backup issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connecting iPhone to iTunes

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v2 of Now Playing; Windows XP iTunes, latest version

Please provide any additional information below.

It seems like the software caches a lot of information about each movie,
and that it's downloading a lot of movies information all the way out to
June 2009. I'm not sure, but I think iTunes is backing up all of this data
when it syncs, greatly increasing the backup time on my computer.

As a test, I removed the application from my iPhone, cleared out my
existing backups, and manually backed up the phone. There were hundreds
fewer files and it didn't take nearly as long.

I really, really like the app. But can there be some control over all this
caching? Maybe an option to download only movies n weeks forward and back?
