Not really sure it's not a bug but.. we'll say its a feature.
It seems that the mask is ignored in copy/paste functions. It would be for example useful to do something like a "//insert" where it would paste the selection without overriding existing blocks by doing //mask air, then //paste, it would only paste on air, and leave unchanged the rest.
