Improve color coding of variables #3

Closed xrotwang closed 9 months ago

xrotwang commented 6 years ago

We should distinguish qualitatively, sequentially and diverging coded variables and then choose appropriate coding schemes, e.g. following https://personal.sron.nl/~pault/#qualitativescheme

Also see https://github.com/drammock/colorblind for python code to create appropriate palettes.

Maybe "banded rainbows" would be the best option for some of the SCCS variables, which clearly have sub-categories, e.g. SCCS1772
