Some wise old player had a spreadsheet that also calculated how much research papers actually costed comparing each other against time to produce, I.E how long it takes an average player to obtain the resources, and make the paper, maybe that could help you @lucasagostini if you do decide to look further into this. ;)
regarding scrolls being free, this would go back to the default eco model. I like the uni having constant expenses. Yes the chancellor can screw that up like you did, but making a plan on what you want to achieve and thinking of the consequences of your actions is kind of the name of the game?
regarding the paper needs, I disliked it first but it's kinda cool now and gives motivated players pretty distinct points in the server runtime where they can profit a lot if they do it right
I was chancellor in this wipe for the first week of the university, and I would like to make some suggestions on how many research papers are needed in each book and from which type.
My first suggestion is to make books more expensive overall, but making skill scrolls free to craft. This would prevent something I suffered from (because of the lack of knowledge) where I could craft 1 skill scroll and sold it, once I did the entity that wanted it stopped to provide research papers so I could not do more. This lead to a few hours of a monopoly and that was not cool. I circunvented that by only starting to sell skills once I had 15 papers of a new skill, but this could easily be solved by making the books cost their cost + 10-15 scrolls or something like that.
My second issue was: many books depend on the same exact papers. I don't have the numbers, but we got stuck in pottery+glassworking because of the excessive amount of engineer papers they needed. Maybe some could be changed to other types that made more sense for this specific book. Pottery and glassworking (as far as I remeber) do not use anything from Basic Engineering, so why are so many papers needed for them?
I could help to think on which papers should be used to which book, if you guys want help!
