With windows 10 64 bit (Microsoft Windows, Version 10.0.10586) and WhatsApp Desktop version 0.2.2245, WhatsappTray V1.1 is not working. PS: RBTray too no longer works wih WhatsApp Desktop

D4koon commented 7 years ago

Are you sure that both App's dont run as Admin? Im Running a newer Windows 10 (Build 14303.351) but i dont know if that could be a problem. You can download the Update here https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/12387/windows-10-update-history

pavonz commented 7 years ago

Yes I did. I followed the instructions. As I said also RBTray no more works on WhatsApp Desktop. I tried WhatsappTray, obviously after having killed RBTray. My pc is an office computer. I cannot download updates. Updates and installed by the system istself, managed by adiminstrators

Well RBTray has the same issues when run on different Integrity-Levels... Can you plz verify that they are indeed the same by downloading Process Explorer Download: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx You have to add the colum by View->Select Columns and tick Integrity Level

integrity level

Here it is. Some of them were blank, others: mandatory level high

Ok looks good so far then... I made a debug-Release to see where things go wrong. This time you have to start WhatsApp first before starting WhatsappTray If no errors appeart after starting WhatsappTray click minimize on WhatsApp. There should be 3 Messageboxes popping up in a row. (After clicking ok the next one comes) The first messagebox is most likely not in front so you have to click the window in your taskbar...

Tested. Nothing happened. Except that, as usual, WhatsApp Desktop minimized itself but it didn't go to the tray, nor displaying messages

D4koon commented 7 years ago

Ok looks like the minimize Command is not recognized. Unfortionatly we have to do some more digging to get to the root of this problem. I made another Debugversion which logs all Windowsmessages WhatsApp generates. Plz follow the Instructions:

  1. start WhatsApp dont hover with your mouse over the WhatsApp-window
  2. start WhatsappTray.exe
  3. imideatly press the minimize-Button in WhatsApp (it would be best to place your mouse over the Button and go straight down)
  4. after that send me or post the contetn of the "dll_log.txt" (Without interaction with Whatsapp)

It would probably good to kill whatsappTray after that because it can generate a lot of log-contetn.

Sorry, no log dll_log.txt produced

D4koon commented 7 years ago

Realy weird... Can you check if the Hook.dll gets loaded into the WhatsApp-Process: After starting WhatsApp and then WhatsappTray (Use the DebugRelease2) Use Process Explorer (if you dont see the loaded dll's try starting Process Explorer as admin) In the Menue -> View -> Show Lower Pane Click Whatsapp and search for Hook.dll in the lower Pane (like in the Picture)

pavonz commented 7 years ago

Sorry, no hook.dll WhatsApp.exe.txt

D4koon commented 7 years ago

I would expect a error msg-dialog if hooking fails I made another DebugRelease which should create a WT_log.txt As always: Start WhatsApp then WhatsappTray Then plz post the contents of the logfile. Btw. have tried restarting your pc :)

WT_log.txt Here it is

D4koon commented 7 years ago

The windows-function that should put the dll in Whatsapp returns an success but the dll isnt in the application... there is nothing i can do sorry Something is wrong with your system. A restart of your system might help if you didnt try that already

pavonz commented 7 years ago

I restart the pc every morning.... It does not matter, bye

Same problem here, no tray process. It worked in the past for some time, just stopped to work.

I tried to start whatsapp first, now it loads, but exits when i use the X close icon. I edited the "close to tray" and now seems to work again. I have to click "close" twice to close, but is better than no tray at all.

Regards.

Hi

I edited the "close to tray" and now seems to work again.

What do you mean by that ?

erm3nda commented 5 years ago

Sorry, mistake.

I "checked" the option "close to tray" on the contextual menu and now it works. ~~ Self signed ~~
