Yellow caution sign on icon #3

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install power8 and start using it.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the power8 start icon in the lower left of the screen.
I see the power8 start icon with a triangular yellow caution sign with an
exclamation point inside. I have no idea what that means but I thought I should
report it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.2.1 on Windows 8 fresh install on a Mac laptop in virtualization mode (vmware
fusion 4.1.3)

Please provide any additional information below.

I think this is a valid bug or at the least a usability issue.

I had the same experience. Playing with it, it appears if either "Auto start"
or "Check for updates" are not selected (which is the default), the caution
icon appears. This means, for example, if I don't want to check for updates,
that it will persistently show the caution icon, which is both misleading and
annoying.

If this caution icon is to stay, I'd recommend changing the behaviour so that
once you open the Settings dialog once, it goes away forever. If as a user I
make the conscious decision not to enable auto-updates, then it should not nag
me about that by showing a caution icon.

There's a setting to disable the warning icon.
As a user, make a conscious decision to read the damn manual :)
