merge expression changes into main branch, revised with all three lines changed #13

This is a renewal of the pull request for the regular expression changes to split the task and run numbers. Please review and test whether this is working to resolve issue #5. Once its confirmed its tested, we can merge with the main branch.

PR #15 (now merged into develop branch) addresses #5 and related issues.
