Capturing feedback to enhance the IO_EXIOExpander.h device driver:

Extra I2C error checking Set 10ms/50ms digital/analogue read delay to let other I2C devices get time on the I2C bus Introduce intermediate buffer for analogue reads to ensure consistent values are read
